Foster Care Matters, a new not-for-profit fostering agency, is raising awareness for more foster parents through hosting three ‘find out about fostering’ drop-in information sessions in Stoke-on-Trent at Love Coffee.

The agency, which aims to offer safe, stable and loving homes for children and young people aged 0-18 years, has teamed up with the community coffee shop in a bid to reach out to anybody who may be thinking about becoming a foster parent, returning to fostering or considering transferring to a different fostering agency.

The purpose of these relaxed, informal sessions is to bust fostering myths, build relationships and to provide guidance and advice on how to become a foster parent and, for those people who are ready to start their journey into fostering, you can also book your home visit with us.

Deb Reid will be present at Love Coffee, at Meir Park Community Hall, between 12 noon and 1:30pm on Thursday 29th August 2024, Thursday 5th September 2024 and Thursday 12th September 2024 and as, the agency’s Recruitment & Family Matching Coordinator, she has spoken of the need for more foster parents within the Stoke-on-Trent area:

“As somebody who lives locally,  I am acutely aware of the shortage of foster homes in Stoke-on-Trent and I believe that if more people enquired about fostering, they would be pleasantly surprised to discover how inclusive it is.

“If you’re considering supporting a child by becoming a foster parent, then I encourage you to please join me for a friendly chat, pick up a free copy of our fostering guide and ask me any questions you might have – it is completely obligation free.”

Foster Care Matters, who has a local office based in Hanley, may be a new fostering agency but they do not lack experience within the children’s sector, given that they are a member of the Adoption Matters family – a children’s charity with over 76 years of experience, who is the only adoption organisation within the North of England to achieve five ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings in a row.

If you wish to find out more about Foster Care Matters, a fostering agency committed to re-investing back into their services to offer high-quality support and ongoing training through their Centre for Fostering and Adoption Support, then please contact us.
